Doug Owens is the founder and managing partner of Space Outcomes, LLC, a consultancy that solves New Space problems. Space Outcomes offers results-oriented go-to-market plans, proposal writing, new business pipeline development, and customer journey mapping support. His work has included helping customers reach high deal closure rates and revamping sales processes for success as well as directly supporting their government capture by collaborating on proposals and setting up capture processes.
Before breaking into the space sector, Doug was known for leading business development excellence in the intelligence community. He won over $200M in U.S. Government contracts for a startup in the IC. Doug’s business development wins enabled ownership to sell the company to private equity, with Doug being a crucial part of the successful M&A process.
Doug earned an executive master’s degree in space leadership, business and policy at ASU/Thunderbird, during which he presented at the NSS space settlement summit and briefed NASA leadership. Doug earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, majoring in computer science and anthropology. Doug is based in the Washington D.C. area, where he likes to hike, spend time with his family and friends, and try to keep up with his new puppy, Jack Sagan Owens.
